Akhil Movie Review
Hero Akkineni Akhil made a promising & confident debut as a commercial hero with this ‘Akhil’ movie. However he was more at ease in fights and songs than in acting. He was expressionless in few scenes, but for a debut film he did much better than many others. Just when I was impressed that he did not use his father’s name in the movie, Akkineni Nagarjuna appeared in a song to support his son. That was to please the fans and I am glad it was limited to a song bit.
Sayesha Saigal was not bad as debut heroine, though I did not find anything special about her to be chosen for such prestigious project. She did reasonable job in her role limited mainly to songs.
The songs were shot quite well in beautiful locations (Spain) and music by Anup Rubens and Thaman was pleasant. In fact, I understood movie was boring as I felt relief whenever a song arrived for my rescue.
The movie plot started rather interestingly and created curiosity but failed miserably to keep up the same. You would get an idea where the movie was heading when you watched the scene of Rabbit’s heart surgery.
The just passable first half was bearable. But the logic was completely found missing in second half where the direction was completely directionless, and below-par graphics made it even worse. This film had neither V.V.Vinayak’s high-voltage action nor his trademark entertainment.
After watching V.V.Vinayak’s ‘Alludu Seenu’ movie last year, I thought it was a rare mistake from one of my favourite directors. But he proved me wrong now with AKHIL movie. He somehow managed to create another dud.
